The Diabetic Foundation was founded by Joseph and Maxine Haber in 2006. Mr. Haber had developed diabetes prior to that time and found that the cost for his new medical condition was taxing, even though he was a

successful entrepreneur. The initial diagnosis about diabetes was overwhelming because of the medical bills and prescription costs, even with health insurance. It was this fact that produced the idea of a Foundation to help families that need financial support for the maintenance of their juvenile diabetes.

The DF gives financial support to working families, with stable income, who just need a little extra. The average grant is $100-$250 per month per family. On average, this will supplement prescriptions and doctors bills and provide relief.

There are too many outstanding diabetes research foundations to mention. They raise millions of dollars every year for the research and future cure of diabetes. The HDF focuses on the "Here and Now" needs of diabetics by giving immediate financial support on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis, based on their needs. The Board of DF reviews the applications quarterly and decides how to divide up the money that has been donated directly to the families. There are no intermediaries in the process.
